One Closet is a tech-integrated wardrobe system designed to simplify outfit planning, packing, and sustainable fashion choices. Using RFID tags, AI, and machine learning, it tracks clothing usage, suggests personalized outfits based on weather and calendar events, and helps users pack efficiently for travel. The app also features a user-driven marketplace for trading or selling underused items—promoting circular fashion and reducing textile waste.

Research

Online grocery is growing fast, but users—especially younger ones—avoid perishables due to quality concerns. Journey maps reveal pain points in delivery and product inspection, highlighting a need for more personalized, reliable shopping experiences.

We own 148 clothing items on average—but only wear 20%. That’s 4 days a year spent choosing outfits while 80% of our wardrobe goes unused. Meanwhile, the U.S. produces 16 million tons of textile waste annually, with 10 million tons in landfills. Yet only 28% donate clothes, and just 7% buy second-hand.

Most wardrobe apps help users upload clothes and plan outfits—but they miss the mark on personalization, sustainability, and ease. They don’t track wear frequency, clean vs. dirty items, or offer trade/sell options. One Closet fills these gaps with RFID tech, AI suggestions, and a built-in marketplace.

Problems to Address

One Closet tackles everyday wardrobe inefficiencies—from wasted time and packing stress to the environmental cost of textile waste.

One Closet tackles everyday wardrobe inefficiencies—from wasted time and packing stress to the environmental cost of textile waste.

🕒 Save Time

We spend 16 minutes daily choosing outfits—adding up to 4 full days a year.

🧳Packing Experience

Packing is inefficient, manual cross-referencing of weather, schedule, & location.

♻️ Sustainability

The U.S. generates 16 million tons of textile waste annually—10 million tons go to landfills.

RFID technology enables wireless tracking of clothing items using washable tags that communicate with readers up to 100 meters away. Integrated with AI and machine learning, it allows One Closet to personalize outfit suggestions based on user preferences, weather, and schedule.

System Ideation & Design

One Closet was designed to solve three key problems: saving time getting dressed, simplifying travel packing, and reducing textile waste through smarter wardrobe management.

One Closet’s app helps users track their wardrobe, get outfit suggestions based on weather and schedule, and simplify packing—all while promoting sustainable fashion through trade and resale.
